Hello Nikon Z-mount
In a previous post I wrote about selling my Nikon NIKKOR F-mount lenses in order to make space and offset the costs of moving to a fully mirrorless system. After a while searching various online camera stores I finally was able to replace my older lenses with new Z-mount equivalents - well almost.
The Nikkor Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S lens was the first I was able to find in stock at WEX Photo Video so this became the first of the trinity of Z-mount lenses. The others were much more difficult to source in the UK. All of the stores I contacted were saying that the lenses were on back order with no stock likely for at least 60 days. This was not ideal as I had already sold my previous lenses. I did have the Nikkor Z 24-70 f/4 S lens that came with my Z6 and my AF-S 105 f/2.8 VR Macro lens so at least I was able to continue photographing.
Then came the daily task of checking online stock and emailing companies asking for estimated times to restock.
After a week I managed to track down the Nikkor Z 70-200 f/2.8 S at London Camera Exchange in Guildford, seemingly the only lens left in the UK and this was quickly snapped up.
A further week passed and a Nikkor Z 24-70 f/2.8 S became available at London Camera Exchange in Southampton and my Z Trinity was complete.
At the same time I managed to find an AF-S 500 f/5.6 PF VR lens at LCE so this was also added to my collection, replacing the bulkier and heavier Sigma 150-600 Sport lens I had just sold.
My collection was almost complete.
Just waiting for stock levels of the Nikkor Z 105 MC S Macro lens to arrive in the UK so I can trade in my F-mount macro lens.
I will provide my initial thoughts on these new lenses in future posts as I become more familiar with them.
