Maryport Rescue Presentation

I was asked by VT Nuclear Services to go along and take some photographs of a presentation of certificates to the Maryport Rescue independent inshore lifeboat team at their station at Maryport harbour. The team had just completed a Sea Survival course sponsored by the VT Group.

After the presentation there was a tour of the lifeboat station along with some refreshments before a demonstration of launching the lifeboat and a chance for the VT representatives to experience a trip onboard the rescue boat.

I went out on a small RIB to allow close up photos of the rescue boat and (un)fortunately the boat outboard motor broke down requiring us to need to be towed back in to the harbour. I did get some good close ups though.

Following the demonstrations out at sea we moved into the outer harbour for safety reasons as the light was fading quickly and witnessed a demonstration of rescuing someone from the water.. Peter Hewitt from VT Nuclear Services was volunteered to be the victim and subsequently retrieved.

A great night out with a wonderful team - thanks to VT Nuclear Services and the team at Maryport Rescue.

I have collection of further images here.
