A Bit of Fun

With the festive season fast approaching and the weather not being too good we decided to have a little fun with Photoshop and a few of my bird images taken in the garden. My wife spent days scouring the internet for a range of hats that would suit the birds. My wife narrowed down to several hats per bird and we would try them all on, trying to find one that looked like it suited the personality of the bird. Once the ideal hat was selected it was a matter of combining the hats and birds in Photoshop to achieve the most realistic image possible.

I hope you like the selection of images shown. I’ll start with some close ups:

After we did the Christmas photos we decided to try it on other bird photos from the garden and its amazing when you look at birds close up, and in detail, just how many colours they have. We found the starling almost like petrol on water whereas normally they look black and freckled from a distance.

This one we call Sherlock Sparrow - he really seems to suit his hat and pipe.

Jack the Lad - We have lots of Jackdaws in the garden as they roost in a nearby tree and they are having fun with the suet balls we leave in a wicker basket secured to the top of the fence so the bigger birds have access to food as well as the smaller ones. He almost seems to be staking claim to this basket with his leg up on it.

The main image (top of page) was featured on BBC Look North NE and Cumbria Weather where it gave the presenters a bit of a giggle..
