Four Spotted Chaser Dragonfly on an Iris Leaf

from £80.00

WD1881

A Four Spotted Chaser (Libellula quadrimaculata), a medium sized dragonfly often found around the edges of ponds and lakes. They are very active dragonflies, darting around above the ponds looking for other insects as food, making them difficult to photograph as they rarely stay still. Watching the dragonflies for a while they have a routine where they will land on the same reed or leaf repeatedly, for a short while before flying away again. Setting up the camera to view the chosen resting place, in this case an iris leaf, and waiting for the dragonfly to return the best way to capture them.
