Hedgehog in the Grass

from £80.00

WD1908

A European hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus) wondering in the grass during the daytime. Although hedgehogs are normally nocturnal there are some exceptions to this and according to the British Hedgehog Society, hedgehogs can be seen gathering nesting materials when they are expecting their young and other times it can be a new hedgehog mum taking a break from her young and collecting extra food.

This photograph was taken in June and the hedgehog was moving very quickly which is an excellent sign of good health and makes it more likely she was searching for food for the hoglets .
